Enhanced Restoration
Overview: For when they need a bit more TLC
Beyond the standard renovation, windows in poor condition may require additional attention.
Repairing Sash Joints: Broken or loose joints in window sashes, can often be salvaged using specialist epoxy resin fillers and timber splices. These techniques are also effective for replacing rotten timber.
Addressing Loose-Fitting Sashes: Loose-fitting sashes are rectified by machining their sides flat and lipped with new timber to replace worn surfaces.
Handling Broken Glass: Broken glass is carefully removed and replaced with appropriate-grade new glass, set traditionally with linseed oil putty. Period-style window glass, which matches the original glazing’s optical imperfections, is available.
Replacing Extensively Rotten Sashes: When rot on a sash is extensive, replacement becomes necessary. Replacement sashes are meticulously crafted in our workshop to closely match the existing details.
Repairing Sash Boxes and Sills: Sash boxes, including the integral timber sill, are prone to rot but can be repaired with resin or fully replaced. Additionally, the ends of sash boxes containing weights may require repair or replacement if rot is present.
